Hinojosa Packaging Group ended 2024 with a turnover of 795 million euros, a growth of 7.6% compared to the previous year. The company continued to invest in a growth model that combines consolidation in the Spanish market with international expansion. With a total of 25 plants and nearly 3.000 employees, Hinojosa is consolidating internationalisation: the sites in France, Portugal and Italy represent 25% of the group’s total turnover.
This growth is supported by an ambitious industrial strategy, reflected in an investment in productive means, innovation and sustainability that rose up to 87 million euros in 2024, boosting the company’s capacity and operational efficiency. This investment includes key actions aimed to enhance customer experience, such as the installation of a new state-of-the-art offset printer at the Valladolid plant, which strengthens the both quality and service. More relevant projects were the expansion of the Xàtiva plant with the most advanced corrugator in the market, and the new logistics centre in Vigo, which will optimize production capacity and improve service level.
Sustainability Report 2024: Hinojosa moves towards decarbonisation
Hinojosa also introduced the Sustainability Report 2024, which marks the start of the new “Momentum Strategic Plan” and includes the main ESG matters, such as the achievement of 61% renewable energy and recovery of 94% of its waste.
In 2024, the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative validated Hinojosa’s targets of 60% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 42% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, as well as achieving 100% of electricity consumption from renewable sources. The company also maintains the ambition of reaching Net-Zero standard by 2050, which implies a 90% reduction in emissions from all three ranges.
Commitment to talent and a commitment to innovation as strategic pillars
People development was one more key focus of the year. Among the initiatives focused on attracting and developing young talent, the most notable included the Hinojosa Chair with the Universitat Politècnica de València, and the II edition of the Graduates Programme, a bridge between the university and professional leadership.
Innovation in customer service remains a priority. In 2024, Hinojosa launched new sustainable solutions, such as a packaging made from 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard for refrigerated orders, developed in partnership with DIA, or a new 100% cardboard packaging system for bottles together with KHS Group.
The efforts to offer a wide range of products tailored to the needs of the customers have been recognised by awards such as the prestigious Carton of the Year at the European Carton Excellence Awards, recognising an exclusive design for a perfume collection. Also noteworthy is the fact that, for the third consecutive year, Hinojosa won the gold medal from EcoVadis, with a record score of 78 out of 100, placing it in the 97th percentile of the best rated companies.
