The Group’s portfolio comprises a variety of recyclable designs for the industry, with the capacity to improve product quality, avoid food waste and reduce logistics costs.

After being postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Barcelona will finally host the Seafood Expo Global (fair) this year and Hinojosa Packaging Group will be at stand 3HH301 offering sustainable packaging solutions for the fishing sector. At a time when a growing number of consumers and producers are concerned about the sustainability of packaging, the Group meets the needs of its clients through specialization, innovation and sustainability, the company’s main drivers of growth.

At the international event, which will take place at Fira de Barcelona from 26th – 28th April, attendees will be able to view Hinojosa’s large portfolio for the transport chain of the aquaculture industry. Their innovative designs allow a shorter freezing process for products, contributing to an improvement in the overall quality, as well as extending their shelf life, and thus avoiding food waste. Likewise, the use of recyclable materials adds more sustainable value to the business for Hinojosa’s clients, leading to maximum satisfaction with their products.

During the event, the company’s team of experts will exhibit solutions ranging from primary sustainable packaging, to special designs for the canning industry, and boxes for frozen langoustines, among many other options.

This year there will be a designated area for the 360 Green Packaging range at the Group’s stand. This range currently represents one of the most sustainable approaches to primary packaging on the market and has been well received in the fishing industry.  Among these solutions, Halopack® by Hinojosa is an ideal option for fresh products, made of cardboard with a fine layer of film, which reduces single-use plastics by up to 75%. These benefits are the reason why many European food and retail companies are now opting for this system.

The company will also exhibit Sumbox and Freshbox, Hinojosa’s sustainable alternatives to porex for seafood. 100% recyclable and disposable (in the blue container), both systems are airtight, waterproof, and ideal for transporting ice and frozen products. In addition, they are flat-packed, so they occupy much less space than other less environmentally-friendly materials.

The largest Seafood fair yet

According to the event’s organizers, the 2022 fair will be the largest Seafood Expo to date: projections suggest that more than 29,000 visitors are expected to arrive from up to 150 countries. More than 2000 exhibiting companies will be located inside the 41,000 m2 premises.

These three days will serve as a meeting place to analyse the most pertinent issues that affect the seafood sector, such as the evolution of the fishing and aquaculture markets, sustainability, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and initiatives being developed in the fight against climate change.

The event will have more than 65 outstanding international experts, who will set out economic data, structural trends, the state of international recovery and the main challenges faced by the global supply chain.
