Sustainable packaging: a major concern
Research has shown that retailers and consumers are now demanding more sustainable packaging when making purchasing decisions. In addition, the European Union’s (EU) Single Use Plastics (SUP) Directive, which entered into force on 3 July 2019, aims to reduce the impact of certain plastic products on the environment.
What gave rise to all this?
Major brands and manufacturers are re-evaluating their packaging strategies to find sustainable alternatives such as ECOGRIP, which eliminates the need for single-use shrink wrap plastic when transporting multiple bottles. It’s a 100% biodegradable solution and can be easily adapted to any bottle on the market.
Consumers, regulators and retailers have long called for an end to single-use plastics in favour of sustainable packaging alternatives:

As for retailers, it is clear that they are starting to reject products with packaging made of single-use plastics from their shops.
What gave rise to all this?
While the industry continues to improve recycling rates for plastic bottles and containers, most secondary packaging, such as shrink wrap, still falls into the single-use plastic category. While it’s important to note that shrink wrap is a very useful and lightweight solution that’s easy to produce, its impact on the environment is catastrophic if it’s not recycled. Hundreds of millions of tonnes of SUP are produced each year and end up in oceans and landfills.
This situation has led to considerable pressure from governments, environmental groups and consumers themselves, who are demanding sustainable and biodegradable packaging solutions. This makes paper packaging much more attractive to consumers and retailers and has an impact on the supply chain. Any alternative to single-use plastics must also be easy to transport, handle and store. It must also be adaptable, as the presence of such a wide variety of bottles on the market requires solutions that are simple and scalable to meet demand.
ECOGRIP is designed to be flexible and practical. No matter the number of bottles, the type or cap, this solution is adaptable, easy-to-use and biodegradable.
