Fairs have become key meeting places to solidify a shared and resolute ambition in a complex yet exciting context within the seafood sector.

The seafood industry faces the challenge of ensuring that its products retain all their freshness and quality by the time they reach the end consumer. This situation, coupled with an increasingly demanding regulatory context regarding packaging, makes innovation in packaging the main path to satisfy these demands. Transforming the work philosophy by researching new materials and exploring new challenges in terms of sustainable consumption and the preservation and refrigeration of products poses a challenge in the short and medium-term. However, the results will undoubtedly bring enormous benefits to the industry, consumers, and the planet.

In this sense, conversations and meetings between key players in the seafood and packaging sectors have become essential and a necessary tool. The context described here has turned the main seafood product fairs into events that transcend their initial purpose, now serving as a way to connect and understand the circumstances of each player and to share approaches to tackle them.

At Hinojosa, we view these meetings as a natural part of our activity. Our goal is to continue to improve as part of our aspiration to create a positive impact for the planet through our products. The specific case of seafood products is an area where sensitivity to the state of our oceans drives us to redouble our efforts while providing solutions to our customers’ needs by improving our efficiency and avoiding waste. The union of the sector, direct listening to customer needs, and further enhancing our commitment to innovation are key to this now and will continue to be in the future. Therefore, these fairs become the perfect space for convergence.

Seafood and Conxemar: places to encounter the most innovative packaging

Seafood Expo Global, the leading international fair in the fish and seafood sector, will be held in Barcelona from 23 to 25 April 2024. Another key date for the diaries is Conxemar, hosted by the Vigo Fair Institute from 1 to 3 October.

During both events, aspects such as the economic and cultural importance of this industry in Spain, known for its high annual per capita consumption of seafood, are discussed.

At these fairs, innovation and sustainability are also highlighted as key terms to drive the development of this market.

At Hinojosa, we respond to these needs with products like our 360 Green Packaging Line. This includes sustainable primary packaging such as Halopack, a tray for fresh foods that reduces single-use plastic by 80%, and is freeze-resistant, water-resistant, and heat-resistant. Or Sumbox, designed for the transport of fresh fish and seafood, preserving the product’s excellence throughout its journey.

Similarly, we will highlight other products such as packaging for raw or cooked seafood, one of the most sought-after solutions in our catalogue. The packaging features properties that preserve the product at temperatures of -35°C, with an innovative design that shortens the freezing process while ensuring the quality of the product thanks to its anti-humidity treatment.

Our commitment to these events is reflected not only in the exhibition of our products, which are thoughtfully designed to provide sustainable solutions to our customers. It is also a way to connect with the entire fishing sector, where all players in the industry come together for an enriching meeting only found at fairs – a unique way to tackle the challenges that we face now and in the future.
